玉ねぎの収穫 Crop of Onions
今日は玉ねぎを収穫しました。ターボと言う白い玉ねぎとサラダなどに彩りがきれいな赤玉ねぎです。全部で２５０個くらいですが、赤玉ねぎがターボの半分くらいです。
Today, I cropped Onions. There are 2 kinds of Onion, one is white Onion called "Turbo"(I don't know the meaning.) and another is Red and beautifle coloring Onion for salad. Total crop are 250 pcs and Red Onions is half of White one.

里芋への次のチャレンジ Challenge for next Satoimo
２度目の里芋の芽が出ない！５月も中旬にマルチをかけたのが敗因か？慌てて”土垂”を探したのですが、もうあるはずがありませんでした。やっと探した種芋は売れ残りで無料でした。これらの芽が出るかどうか、乞うご期待！
There are no garmination from the second Sato Imo planting. It seemed too hot with cover sheet at the middle of May. There was no seeds of Sato Imo named "Dotare" at the seed shop though I was flustered and looked for seeds of "Dotare" immeadiately. Lastly, I found some left unsold seed of "Dotare" at another seed shop, and they were free fortunately. I am afraid of the garmination. Don't miss it!

里芋と枝豆の失敗 Failures in SatoImo and Green Soybeans
此処で、失敗例をご披露します。
まず、里芋です。、昨年収穫した里芋を地中に深く埋めて保存しておき、3月頃に掘り出して選別し、100数十個確保しました。これを4月の初めに埋めなおしましたが、1か月たっても芽が出てこなく掘って確認したところ、三分の2は腐っていました。対策は新しく種芋を購入し、植えなおしたところです。原因を調べたところ、連作影響と、芽出し作業をしていなかったのが大きいかもしれません。他に、水の不足も考えられます。
次は枝豆です。比較的成長が早いので30個前後の種を定期的に蒔けば、結構長い期間楽しめると思い発芽を待っていたところカラスか鳩にやられました。やっぱり豆系は狙われます。これは同様に落花生にも影響がありまして、即寒冷紗をかけました。
今後の対策としては、豆系は、双葉を成長させて豆が見えなくなるくらいポットで育てるか、種を蒔いたら即寒冷紗をかけるか二つに一つです。
I will show you 2 failures.
The No1 is Sato Imo. In this winter, I kept Sato Imos in the ground deeply, and selected good ones after digging them out at March. After all, I got more than 100 pcs and planted them on the first April. I was waiting for the garmination but I found 2/3 of them rotted in the ground. I bought new seeds of Sato Imo for the countermeasure and I planted them on 17th of May again. The big causes seems 3, I think. One is planting in the same place every year. The next is to keep 1 or 1.5 month for urging garmination to plant the seeds of Sato Imo in the ground. The last one is insufficient water.
Next is Green Soybeans.
They grow rather faster, so we can eat them flesh and good to seed regulary. While I am waiting the growth, a crow (or a pigoen) attacked the buds.
Ah, that's exactly what I thought. The "Beans" are very dangerous without countermeasures. The peanuts also attacked and I covered by long and white cheesecloth immediately.
After this, I am sure to apply either countermeasure that to grow in a plastic pot until the bean disappear or that to cover with a cheesecloth immediately.

バジル、パプリカ、ピーマン、その他 Basil,Paprika,GreenPepper, etc.
これはバジルです。実際には1ポットに3本のバジルがありました。根が付いたら分けます。
These are Basils. I found 3 Basils in a plastic pot. After taking roots, I will devide these.
これらは右から、ピーマン、赤パプリカ、黄パプリカです。昨年は一枝に花がいっぱいついて大きくならなかったので、今年は少し選ったり、余分な枝を切り取るなどして上に伸ばそうと思います。

そして、ミニトマト。水を調整できると甘いトマトができるので鉢に植えました。

きゅうり、インゲン、ナス、その他、 Cucumber, Ingen, Eggplant,Okra,and so on
5月5日から5月25日までの作業をご報告します。

きゅうりとインゲン Cucumber and Ingen
右側にはきゅうりが、そして左側にはインゲンを（右の手前にはきゅうり苗2本とインゲン3本）
Ingen at left side and Cucumbers at right side(Ingen 3 young plants and 2 Cucumbers at beforehand of right side)
ナス（十全ナスと千両二号）(Jyuuzenn,Senryou Nigou)
手前の5本が十全ナスです。

次は、左のマルチがオクラで右側に落花生を移植しました。

5月の種蒔きと畑整備 The seeding and the preparation of field in May
5月はこのブログをさぼってしまい、大変申し訳ありません。今後、定期的にアップするように心がけます。
ただ、このところ悩みが多いのです。それは、全体的に生育が遅いことと里芋の発芽が3割くらいだったことです。前半の遅い生育は多分日照温度の上がるのが例年より遅いことと水不足があるのではないでしょうか。後半の里芋については、反省点多々です。後でこれらを列挙したいと思います。

These days, I have a lot of troubles about agriculture. One is that the growth of almost field products seems slow, and the other is that the only 30 % of Sato Imo garmination found. The late growth seems to result from not enough temperature and water. And I found something to reflect and I will explaine them later.

里芋の発芽遅れ Late garmination of Satoimo
種イモを植えてから3週間以上たっているのに一向に目が出てこないので、マルチを剥いで確認してみたら、芽の成長がかなり遅れているのが判明した。原因究明が大事ですが、水が足りなそうだったので一日2回撒いたところ、芽の成長が１cmほど伸び、根が出てきたことから大きな原因は水不足だったことがわかった。5日ぐらい水を撒いてから、再度マルチをかけることとします。
I am anxious about the Satoimo garmination though more than 3 weeks past, I took off the cover sheet. So, I found the growth too late. Before looking for the causes, first of all, I showerd on the ground 2 times a day. As a result of shower, I found the stem growed about 1 cm and roots. Fortunately, it seems that the shortage of water is a biggest cause of this. I will keep shower for 5 days and cover the sheet again.

種を蒔く To seed some kinds of vegetable
今日はポットに数種の野菜の種を蒔きました。
畑の準備をタイミングよくできなくても、ポットやプランターに事前に種を蒔くことで発芽のタイミングをずらすことがないと思い、昨年から実行している。
サニーレタスとミックスベビーリーフ：これはベビーリーフ状態で食べるとやや苦味はあるが、とても柔らかく美味しい。
落花生は比較的根が多く、大きく生育するため、大きめのポットを使用する。：120粒
きゅうりは一部をポットで、あとは地蒔きとする。：12粒
弦なしいんげん：久しぶりに挑戦、収穫時、土で汚れやすい難点はあるが、マルチを使って汚れ防御する予定。：36粒

Red leaf lettuce & mixed baby leaf : It's very good with a little bitter and soft when to eat the small.
Peanut has big and many roots, so to have to use rather big ones. : 120 seeds
Cucumber : 12 seeds and the others will be seeded at the ground directly later.
Ingen(kidney bean?) without tendril : Usually to seed Ingen with tendril, but this year I will try to seed without tendril. I will prevent from dirty when to harvest using plastic sheet.

里芋を植える Planting Sato-Imo seeds
投稿が遅れました。
先週の日曜日、5日に里芋を植えました。
一連の作業は、管理機で耕します。

I planted Sato-Imo seeds on 5 of Apr.
First of all, to plough the ground.
次に作を切ります。このときはかけるマルチの幅を考慮してそれよりも20ｃｍ位幅を狭くします。その後、植える種の間隔を設定して印をつけます。その間を若干掘って、堆肥を入れる準備をします。ここには豚糞と化成を入れます。印をした部分に里芋を植えます。今年はあまり深くしないで芽の先端が地面より5ｃｍ位深くなる程度。気が付いたら、160個を超えていました。（種として保存していた里芋だけでは足りなかったので、食用の小さなサトイモも種として植えました。）表面をならしてから、透明のマルチをかけ、作の間には雑草が生えるのを避けるために防草シートをかけて作業は終了しました。
And next, to decide the width of planting place as about 20 cm narrower to the one of the transparent cover sheet width. The most important is to decide the interval of Sato-Imo seeds. I marked the points by a stick for planting. Also, the between of the points should be digged a little for fertilizing manure. Sato-Imo seeds were planted at the points. The depth of the seed was about 5 cm deeper than the ground surface, a little shallower as usual this year. I found the seeds were more than 160 pieces. (I used small Sato-Imo for eating but not enough Sato-Imo seeds for keeping. I leveled the ground and covered the transparent cover sheet on the planted places and covered the black sheet for preventing from weeds.

畑を耕す Plowing the field
今年の準備で耕しました。ただ、ネギや玉ねぎ苗、アブラナ等あるのですべてと言う訳にはいきませんが、強風の中頑張りました。
I plowed in the hard wind for planting many vegetables this year except the place of long green onions, onions, and so on.
南側はニラやレタスなどを移植したため、比較的全体的に耕せました。
I could plowed the south side ground evenly transplanting leeks or lettuces to another place.
